A second man has been charged after a kidnapping, stabbing and a three-day manhunt in Rotherham.

Gareth Slater, 32, of Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh, has been charged with kidnap, grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article after a 39-year-old man was stabbed inside a Fiat Punto at a petrol station on Stadium Way, Rotherham, before the vehicle fled the scene.

He has been remanded into custody until his appearance before Sheffield Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning (Monday).

Police gave chase to the car and was stopped by officers on Meadow Bank Road, Deepdale, just before 8.10pm.

The injured 39-year-old man inside the car was taken to hospital where has was treated for serious stab wounds.

A police dog deployed to assist in detaining the man, suffered a stab wound during the incident.

Craig Berridge, 38, of Grange Road, Rawmarsh, has also been charged with a number of offences in connection with the incident.

Slater was arrested on Saturday after police launched an urgent appeal to find him.
