A former patient of a controversial mental health crisis centre in Sheffield died just weeks after a woman leapt from the window of the property.

Rethink, the charity which operates the facility in a quiet, residential street in Nether Edge, has confirmed a man who stayed at the venue between May and June passed away suddenly on July 20 in circumstances not thought to be suspicious.

A female patient, aged 31, died after jumping from the third storey window on July 9.

In a joint statement Rethink and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of a service user who had stayed at our Sheffield crisis house.

“Our thoughts are with family and friends. We cannot comment further until the inquest has taken place.”
