Have your say

SHEFFIELD Scouts have set up a city centre shop in an effort top recruit more members - adults and youngsters.

The shop on Pinstone Street will demonstrate the types of activities on offer including climbing, abseiling, surfing, kayaking and there is even a bouldering wall for young people to try out.

Information is available on how to join with videos of activities and a message from Chief Scout Bear Grylls.

Organiser Tony Richardson, said: “In Sheffield, and also nationally, more and more boys and girls are wanting to experience the adventure that Scouting offers, but we need more adult volunteers to help them.”

Tony said volunteering can take many forms and added: “We have a range of flexible volunteering opportunities, from helping out every week to just the odd hour here and there”

The shop has been organised by the 20th Ecclesall Group in Sheffield as part of their centenary celebrations, which include reunion event at the Cutler’s Hall in November.
