Scott all revved-up for biking triumph after taking part in police initiative

YOUNG bikers got a police seal of approval when they turned out in Carcroft.

Officers who are often called out to deal with nuisance bikers were this time encouraging youngsters to get on two wheels - by running motorcycle lessons for teenagers at the village’s council-run motorcycle park.

Some 84 youngsters joined officers to receive tuition on how to operate their off road bikes, use the gears and the brakes, and ride around a circuit.

Of those, 12 were invited back to race in the finals for trophies, with borough youngster Scott Simpson winning the competition.

Officers also provided sports sessions at Morley Place Primary School, Conisbrough.

Police Community Support Officer Supervisor John Barker said: “The aim of these diversionary activities was to give the youngsters positive activities and to prevent them becoming involved in anti-social behaviour on the streets.’’
