Schools up for sign challenge

EIGHT primary schools in Sheffield have signed up to a world record-breaking attempt for the most people singing and signing for the deaf simultaneously.

Youngsters will sing a specially composed song in the event, organised by the national charity SignHealth, on February 6 next year.

Bradfield Dungworth, Greengate Lane, Handsworth Grange, Meersbrook Bank, Nook Lane, St Catherine’s Catholic, Stannington Infants and Wharncliffe Side schools are registered to take part.

They will attempt to break a record set earlier this year with pupils from more than 800 other schools across the world.

The challenge will raise money to improve the mental and physical health of deaf people, including children.
