A schoolboy has died after being hit by a car outside a Sheffield school.

Lawrence Moorhouse, aged 14, was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra in Beaumont Road North at around 4.15pm yesterday after he left Sheffield Park Academy.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead this morning.

This afternoon his parents paid tribute to the ‘much-loved’ teenager.

They said: “Lawrence was a very popular young man. He was well-liked and had lots of friends.

“We are devastated by his death and would like to ask to be left to grieve at this difficult time.”

Witnesses to the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 731 of December 10 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
