Scheme to make town safer place for vulnerable

Have your say

AN initiative was today being launched in a South Yorkshire town to improve safety for adults with learning difficulties.

The Safe in Rotherham project has been set up by Rotherham Council, police and business leaders, and involves creation of a card which vulnerable adults can carry to show if they find themselves lost or unwell, or feel unsafe or are being followed, harassed or threatened.

Cards will carry numbers for their carer, family member or support worker, who can be contacted to offer support and reassurance to the vulnerable person until help and support arrives.

Businesses and organisations in the town are being invited to display the Safe in Rotherham badge to show they are participating in the scheme and can be approached for help.
