Scargill court hearing to start

FORMER miners’ leader Arthur Scargill will be at the High Court on Monday as he continues his fight to retain a £35,000 per year flat in London.

Mr Scargill was given the rented three-bed Barbican flat when he was elected as President of the National Union of Miners in 1982.

Mr Scargill will argue that the rental agreement should be continued until his death which, he says, is in keeping with the union’s tradition.

The case is due to be heard in the Chancery Division in London.
