It’s great to see The Plough in Crosspool given some protection by the council classing it as an “asset of community value”.
It’s been a pub for around 400 years and is opposite the oldest football ground in the world at Hallam FC.
Communities around Sheffield need to be looking at their historic pubs. Pubs and convenience stores have the same planning classification so Tesco or Sainsbury’s can walk in and open up without needing an application for change of use.
So pub regulars might want to follow the lead of the “Save the Plough” campaign.
