Sanasy double gets Town back in business

Two goals from Kevin Sanasy and a first for the club from Jermaine Palmer saw Worksop Town make it back-to-back wins for the first time as they beat Lincoln United 3-2 at Sandy Lane last night.

Sanasy's first came from a 33rd minute penalty after Andy Wright had been pulled down in the area.

The striker hit his and Worksop's second on 58 minutes with a fine shot after a Steve Hawes pass before Palmer sealed the points on 68 minutes, heading home from a Steve Robinson free-kick.

Stocksbridge Park Steels crashed out of the UniBond League Cup after a 5-1 defeat at Nantwich Town. Brett Lovell equaled before the break but the home side went on to run in another four goals.

Sheffield FC went through at Goole winning 5-3 on penalties.

An own goal from goalkeeper Jamie Holmshaw gifted Goole a third minute lead but Vill Powell's 60th minute strike took the tie into extra-time and with no further goals it went down to the lottery of the spot-kicks, where Chris Dolby, Karl Colley, David Wilkins, and Andy Taylor and Powell all converted for Sheffield

In the Northern Counties East League, Brodsworth Welfare ended a run of six league defeats with a 3-2 win at fellow strugglers Glass-houghton Welfare.

Sean Gorman gave Brodsworth a fourth minute lead with Ryan Malee adding a second on 24 minutes, before a 40th minute own goal proved to be the winner as Glass-houghton hit back to score twice after the break.

Dinnington Town suffered a second cup defeat in four days, this time crashing out of the Wilkinson Sword Trophy at the quarter-final stage beaten 2-0 at home by Bottesford Town after conceding goals in the third and last minute of the tie.

There

are big ties in prospect for both Rossington Main and Dinnington Town after the draw for the second round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA Senior Cup.

Both the NCE League clubs were paired with Unibond League Premier Division opposition.

Rossington will be at home to Worksop Town while Dinnington Town will have Frickley Athletic as visitors.
