SALSA dancing and graffiti art are among the activities being used to encourage people to get into volunteering in Sheffield.
Residents in the Manor and Castle area of the city are invited to an afternoon of fun next Friday, March 16, to highlight how people can get involved in local projects.
The information fair, also including creative workshops for older people and face painting, is to launch a Voluntary Action Sheffield project to encourage more people into volunteering in their communities.
Manor and Castle Development Trust and Great Places are supporting the initiative, funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
Volunteer outreach champion Naomi Whitehead said: “This project will help more local people to get involved in their community.
“Volunteering can play an important role in helping people gain useful experience, as well as increasing people’s confidence.”
Sheffield MPs Paul Blomfield and David Blunkett will both attend the event at St Aidan’s Church, Manor Lane, from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
Free pie and peas will also be served. For more details call Naomi on 07826 520 985.
