Salon to be officially opened in Sheffield to help former prisoners

A new hair and beauty salon to help women who have come out of prison to get work will be officially opened in Sheffield.

The What Women Want salon, on Elm Lane, Sheffield Lane Top, is also a women’s centre.

It is being run by South Yorkshire charity Key Changes – Unlocking Women’s Potential, which aims to support women by offering them mentoring while in prison.

It also tries to help empower them once released.

Michelle Nicholson is the managing director of Key Changes and now also runs the salon.

Any profits will go back in to keeping the salon going so more women can train there.

The salon will be opened by the Coun Peter Rippon, Lord Mayor of Sheffield, on Friday.

Special guests are set to include the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, John Bramah.
