Sailing fun for Scouts and Guides

Have your say

AHOY there land lubbers!

This group of scouts and guides from Sheffield have completed Royal Yachting Association courses held at Dam Flask reservoir in the Loxley valley.

The 10-week course took the youngsters through the very first steps in sailing from how to set up a boat through to advanced skills.

The Sheffield Scout Sailing Group was set up more than 30 years ago to introduce youngsters to the fun of sailing and give them valuable experience while attaining RYA awards.

A range of sailing courses are held including the training of scout leaders as instructors.

The group’s activities are open to scouts, guides and leaders, as well as members of the Sheffield Viking Sailing Club, which is also based at Dam Flask.

Training courses will be held on weekends in September.
