Safety advice for Christmas

Have your say

THE Suzy Lamplugh Trust personal safety charity is reminding South Yorkshire residents to take care over the festive season and offering tips on how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

Shoppers are urged to avoid leaving presents on display in vehicles and to park in well lit areas away from places where people could hide.

The charity is also urging people to be aware of pickpockets operating in crowds in the run up to Christmas and it has urged parents to talk to their children about what to do if they get separated in busy shops.

It urges parents to tell children to stop, stand still and wait to be found, or arrange a meeting point with older children.

The charity is also reminding people not to drink too much over the festive season, warning revellers not to accept drinks from strangers in case they are spiked.

The charity is also reminding people to book taxis home in advance and carry personal alarms. Visit for more advice.
