Residents are being invited to Rush Round Rotherham to help local charities.

The walk is being supported by Rotherham United FC and Rotherham Rotary and takes place on Sunday, May 19, from 9am – walks of three, seven, 12 and 25 miles are taking place.

Gillian Headon, one of the founders of the event, which was first held in 2006, said: “The event was founded by Lyn Wilson and I, having lost a very special friend, Sandra Rush, to breast cancer at the of age 44 in 2002.

“We felt we had to raise awareness and funds to help causes in our community.

“Unfortunately, Lyn passed away last year to pancreatic cancer aged 54.

“We want this year’s event to be bigger and better.”
