Runners raise funds for Doncaster hospice

Two friends have raised more than £800 for Doncaster's only hospice by taking part in a challenging 10K run.

Cassie Beedle and Tim Webster took part in the Sheffield 10k and have now collected in their sponsorship money and handed it over to St John’s Hospice, Balby.

The pair raised £661 from pledges and when they added on gift aid it took the total to £816.88.

Cassie said: “We decided to raise money for the hospice because we know how much of a great cause it is and really wanted to do something to help.

“We have been overwhelmed with the donations people have made and are extremely grateful. “

The hospice, on Western Road, is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

Chris Smith, St John’s Hospice Fundraising Co-ordinator, said: “What a fantastic donation this is. I want to thank Cassie and Tim for this money. Every penny will be spent on making our patients’ more comfortable.”

RDaSH provides a range of mental health, learning disability, drug and alcohol services and community health services.
