Budding runners are being encouraged to kick-start their fitness regimes with a New Year’s Day run in Graves Park, Sheffield.
The Graves Parkrun event takes place at 10am and will follow the usual 5km – three mile – course.
The race starts at the animal farm car park and runners are welcome to wear fancy dress. The event is free and open to everyone.
The Parkrun series takes place in parks all over the UK.
Runners register at www.parkrun.org.uk and each competitor is given a barcode which is scanned at the end of the run.
Ollie Hart, Graves Parkrun director and a GP at Sloan Medical Centre in Heeley, said: “The New Year’s Day Parkrun is a great way to kick off those New Year’s resolutions and all are welcome.
“There will be a bit of a gathering at the Rose Garden Cafe afterwards.”
