A financial advisor from Eckington raised £1,100 for charity when he swapped his business suit for his running gear to run the London Marathon.

Richard Hancock, aged 40, owner of RH Financial Consultants, completed the 26.2 mile race for North Anston based children’s hospice, Bluebell Wood, which offers care and support to children with complex medical needs and a shortened life expectancy.

Last year Richard and his friend, Grady Holmes, took on a mammoth 46 mile canal run from West Stockwith on the River Trent to Chesterfield, raising over £6,000 for the hospice.

He said: “It was a tough but great day, the atmosphere really helped to carry me those last few miles and knowing that I’m helping such a worthy cause makes it worthwhile.”
