This ‘lovely lady’ is Holly who, after years living rough and fending for herself is now hoping to find a family of her own.

Holly, who is a three-year-old cat, was scared and frightened when she was first taken to RSPCA Sheffield in December, but after a few months of care from the staff there she is now ready to find an owner who can take care of her full-time.

Describing her as a ‘lovely lady’, Adam Spencer, of RSPCA Sheffield, said: “Used to living rough, she was frightened when she first arrived and would growl to show her unhappiness.

“With daily socialisation and lots of yummy treats, she is now much happier.”

However, she is still reserved and shy.

She spends most of her time in her safe den during the day and she comes out at night to explore, eat her tea and play with her toys.

She prefers not to be handled, but with the staff she trusts, she will come out and sit near them to take any goodies you have to offer at her comfortable distance.

Adam added: “Holly may never be outgoing and she may choose just to be an independent cat, but she is starting to relax and trust the people she knows best so her confidence my grow in a home with a dedicated owner, willing to put the time in to support her development.”

Holly would ideally need to live with a person who has experience of nervous cats. It may be beneficial for her to live with another friendly other cat who she can buddy up with. It is not known how she would react to dogs.

Adam added: “This girl may be very nervous and will need a lot of time spending with her but she is so worth it and deserves to be happy and loved.”

Give Holly a new home by contacting 0114 289 8050 or call into the RSPCA offices, two Stadium Way.
