RSPCA Sheffield call for new home for Staffordshire bull terrier Roxy

The RSPCA, Sheffield Centre, Stadium Way in Sheffield, has put ‘Staffy’ bull terrier Roxy up for adoption.

She came into the centre on November 10, 2017, and is now aged three years and eight months.

She has no health issues, it is not known how she is around children, but she definitely would want to be the only pet.

Adam Spencer, of the RSPCA in Sheffield, said: “Roxy is a special girl who came to us as part of a cruelty investigation. Extremely nervous when she first arrived, she struggled to trust new people and was wary of handling.”

He added: “She had a poorly tummy too for which she has had tests and treatment for. Now, eight months later, this delightful dog is now ready to start a new life chapter in a secure and happy home with a loving new owner – we just need to help her to find one!

“Although she’s still unsure of new people, once she trusts and loves you, she is an affectionate and loving little girl.”

He said that Roxy loves to play and have fun, although she loves toys a little too much so staff at the Animal Centre in Sheffield have to be very selective with her playthings or they say they last about five seconds!

“She is now happy to have a gentle groom too, especially if paired with a tasty goody or two,” said Adam.

“She doesn’t mind being around other dogs but she is very worried and wary around loud, really lively dogs. Roxy much prefers a gentle sniff and potter with a like minded soul who isn’t demanding anything of her. We are looking for a home where Roxy can be the only dog for the moment so she can settle, bond with her new owners and have support and help her worries and fears without having to be concerned about sharing her family or resources.”

He said Roxy was looking for an experienced and understanding dog home where any children are older, teens, and who have plenty of time to help Roxy settle and overcome her worries and issues related to her past.

He further added: “Her tummy issues are now well managed but she may need lifelong medication and a special diet to keep her happy and well.” For more call 0114 289 8050.
