Royal visitor stuns diners as he drops in for morning coffee

Customers at a Little Chef in South Yorkshire were left stunned - when the Duke of Edinburgh dropped in as they were enjoying breakfast.

Prince Philip spent around 15 minutes at the diner on Great North Road in Doncaster en route to a private engagement in the north west last Thursday morning.

A member of staff at the diner said an ‘extraordinary’ convoy of upmarket vehicles descended on the car park at about 9.30am.

“They did not have anything to eat but had a round of hot drinks. The person who served them at their table did not know who he was at first until someone mentioned it.”

Sadly the 93-year-old Royal was not tempted by the £10.99 ‘Royal Breakfast’ fry-up.
