THE Duchess of Cornwall has extended her patronage of a national homeless charity which has a branch in Sheffield city centre.

Camilla will continue to support Emmaus for another five years. She has been patron since 2006. Terry Waite, President of Emmaus in the UK, said: “We are very fortunate indeed to have her support.”

The organisation’s Sheffield branch is based at Sipelia Works, Cadman Street, on the edge of the city centre. Emmaus offers homeless men and women a home and work within a supportive community environment.

Residents sign off unemployment benefits and work full-time at the business of the community, collecting, refurbishing and selling donated furniture and household goods. Each community aims to be financially self-sufficient through its work.
