PROMOTION-chasing Doncaster Rovers are searching for a new manager following the shock departure of Dean Saunders to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Saunders was given permission to speak to the Championship club yesterday morning and the Welshman’s exit was officially confirmed just before 9pm last night.

The two clubs have agreed a compensation package and Gavin Baldwin, Rovers chief executive, says they have already begun the search for a successor. The Star understands Rovers have drawn up a six-man shortlist.

Baldwin said: “Work has already started on trying to find a replacement.”
