Rotherham United: Striker David Ball joins Bradford City in late transfer after deadline Â

Ball has struggled to make an impact for the Millers this season, playing only 57 minutes of league action, and the League One Bantams made a swoop for him shortly before the window closed.

The deal is believed to have pushed the deadline extremely close and the West Yorkshire club had to get confirmation from the authorities that the deal was done in time.

That came through on Monday afternoon and Ball will now spend the remainder of the season at Valley Parade.

The 28-year-old was left out of Paul Warne's squad for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Wigan, though the boss insisted there was nothing sinister behind his omission.

Ball arrived at the club in the summer of 2016 as a marquee signing, but took time to get going at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

His first league goal came in November, but it was his two strikes at Blackpool that kick-started his and the Millers' season as they went on a long unbeaten run after that.

He was an important part of the team that went on to win promotion from League One, even though he missed a penalty in the play-off final at Wembley.

However, since starting the opening game of the season at Brentford, he has been unable to force his way into Warne's thinking and was restricted to run-outs in the Carabao Cup, where he captained the side at Everton last week.

'Everyone at Rotherham United would like to wish David all the best during his loan spell,' a Millers statement read.

Meanwhile, the club are waiting to find out the extent of Sean Raggett's injury.

The central defender hobbled off in the opening 20 minutes at Wigan and Warne was fearing the worst.

'Sean Raggett looks not great,' he said after the game.

'The fact he was screaming when it first happened. I was not aware that he had any pain receptors in his body because he hasn't moaned or groaned about anything at all.

'That is a shame for him because he has been playing really well so I don't know the extent of that.'

Jon Taylor also went off against the Latics with a tight groin, but that is not thought to be serious.
