ROTHERHAM (4-1-4-1)

MAREK RODAK 6

Rarely tested. Did everything he had to and was a commanding presence in the box.

JOSH EMMANUEL 7

Dangerous going forward and generally moved the ball out of defence quicker than usual.

MICHAEL IHIEKWE 8

Excellent after a long absence from central defence. Won his headers, anticipated well and was assured in possession. It probably helped that Wigan aren’t the most physical side in attack.

RICHARD WOOD 7

Lost half his lip, won his battles. Took care of Dan Burn at set-pieces.

BEN PURRINGTON 7

His best game since replacing Joe Mattock three matches ago. Great to see him looking more confident.

WILL VAULKS 7

Nothing too eye-catching but he was disciplined in a key defensive midfield role. Wound up Dan Burn a couple of times.

JON TAYLOR 7

Really threatening early on when his crossing was good. Always looked to stretch the Wigan defence.

RICHIE TOWELL 7

Put in a big shift. Worked as hard as anyone out of possession and produced some classy touches.

MATT PALMER 7

Behind most of Rotherham’s best moves. So comfortable on the ball. Reads the game and sees passes other players don’t.

RYAN WILLIAMS 7

A bundle of energy and unlucky not to score. Like Taylor, he covered a lot of ground and worried the Latics backline.

MICHAEL SMITH 8

A big performance from the big man. Very physical, with the deft feet and mobility we’ve come to expect.
