Rotherham United: Paul Warne's warning as Millers look to end run at Nottingham Forest

The Millers' dire record on the road in the second tier has been well documented in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Tuesday '“ which made it four from four this season.

They will again try to end that run when they visit the City Ground on Saturday, but if they are looking for any good omens, then they are unlikely to find them.

The Millers have a dreadful record on the banks of the River Trent and have not won in 12 visits going back to 1955, losing the last three.

Boss Paul Warne is never concerned about such statistics, but he is worried about coming up against a Forest team that could be about to hit their stride.

Aitor Karanka's men beat Sheffield Wednesday in midweek to end a run of four games without a win and with only one defeat to their name so far, they will be ready to kick on and mount a challenge.

Warne has spoken of his quandary in finding the right balance between attack and defence, but suggested it will be a similar set-up at the City Ground.

'If you don't match Forest in the middle of the park you are just not going to see the ball,' he said.

'Our game plan will be to play to our max and hopefully take something out of the game.

'Forest haven't probably got to their best yet, but on paper they are formidable. They caused Sheffield Wednesday no ends of problems.

'Give them another few weeks and they could have improved considerably.'

Warne is less concerned '“ at this stage at least '“ by his side's woeful record on the road.

'In the ideal world we would be picking points up all over the place,' he conceded.

'Realistically if we didn't win an away game or get a draw I would be hugely disappointed but if we collected enough points to where we want to go to then I don't think it really matters at the end of the season.

'In fairness our away games have been tough, Brentford, Leeds, Villa and now Forest.

'We haven't had the easiest starts, if we are still having this conversation at Christmas time it'll be a bit more of a worry.'
