The Millers have two matches lined up during their eight-day trip to Europe and manager Alan Stubbs is hoping to have begun his summer recruitment by then.

Even if signings haven’t been made, there will be fresh faces in the Rotherham squad as Stubbs gives a chance to potential newcomers.

“We’ll have a few trialists in,” he confirmed. “It’s a good opportunity to see what they can do.”

The Millers will be based at the Hotel Remes in Opalenica and face Miedz Legnica there on Tuesday July 12, followed by former Polish champions Gornik Zabrze on Friday July 15.

The venue where the Millers will be based has been used by the Portuguese national team in the past and has a pitch which can accommodate nearly 1,000 spectators.

“The facilities there are very good,” added Stubbs, who joined the Rotherham earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the 44-year-old believes that England are a team to be feared at Euro 2016.

The national side face Iceland tonight with a place in the quarter-finals at stake and find themselves in the toughest half of the draw after losing out to Wales for top spot in Group B.

But Stubbs, who was picked for the England B side in his own playing days, said: “It’s true they’re in the hardest side of the draw now, but you never know.

“There isn’t a side in the tournament who will look forward to playing against them.”

England had to settle for second spot when they failed to find a way past Slovakia in the final group game, drawing 0-0 after boss Roy Hodgson had made six changes to the side that had beaten Wales 2-1.

“Roy has come in for a lot of criticism, which is unwarranted,” Stubbs said. “England are unbeaten in their three matches so far and now have a good chance to make the last eight.”
