The Millers this morning confirmed the capture of the 32-year-old hitman who had a spell on loan at the club last season and the Argentine should be in the squad for Saturday's Championship trip to Cardiff City.

Free agent Becchio has been training with Rotherham for the last three weeks and has played in private games to boost his match fitness.

He returned to Argentina at the end of last season after the expiry of his Norwich City contract but has been lured back to English football by Millers manager Neil Redfearn.

The pair are friends from their time together at Leeds United where Becchio scored at the rate of a goal every two games for four seasons.

"Luciano's one-touch finishing is on a different level," said Redfearn. "He's shown that in training with us."

Redfearn has been looking to bolster his striking department after deeming Jordan Bowery surplus to requirements.
