Rotherham United: Hibs say '˜yes' to Stubbs talks

Rotherham United have had their request to talk with Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs accepted.

The Scottish side this evening “reluctantly” agreed that their boss can speak to the Millers.

Championship Rotherham have made the 44-year-old, who led Hibs to Scottish FA Cup Final glory last season, the No 1 target as they look to replace Neil Warnock.

Millers chairman Tony Stewart confirmed at the end of last week that they would be making contact with the Scottish Championship side, but there was a delay over the weekend as Hibs chief executive Leean Dempster was on holiday.

Dempster says Hibs will allow a “brief window” for talks but stresses the Edinburgh club want to keep their man.

In two years at Easter Road, Stubbs, a former Premier League centre-half, with Bolton Wanderers, Everton and Sunderland, has twice come close to winning promotion to the SPL and earlier this month delivered Hibs’ first Scottish Cup Final victory since 1902.

Rotherham said they would also be requesting talks with a second manager, believed to be Coventry City’s Tony Mowbray, but the Midlands outfit say there has been no contact so far.
