Four players who’ve been injured are now available for the rearranged tie in the British and Irish Cup against the London club.

Scrum-half Andy Davies (thumb), centre Will Owen(knee) and forwards Toby Salmon(thumb) and Josh Redfern(foot) have made full recoveries.

With league games coming up which Rotherham must win to stay in the Championship, Burnell can now pick from a larger pool of players.

Second row Barney Maddison remains out because of a leg problem but is making good progress and the Titans’ most experienced forward should be fit to play against Burnell’s former club, London Welsh, early next month.

As stability returns to Clifton Lane following Monday’s departure of Mark Jones as coach, the size of the task facing his successor is enormous,

He has to develop a winning mentality in a squad that has not won a league game since November.

The forthright Burnell, who knows the Championship inside out, is a perfect fit for the Titans and it is now the responsibility of the squad to respond to the challenge facing them.

Championship wins are most likely to be earned at Clifton Lane which is why victories against Bedford a week tomorrow, and then against Nottingham on March 26 and London Scottish on April 16 are essential if Burnell’s mission is to be accomplished.

Neither Rotherham or Ealing have any chance of progressing in the B&I Cup.
