Rotherham Titans:

The Titans are not in action this weekend and will look to be mentally and physically refreshed when they welcome Nottingham in a fortnight, the first of their decisive final four games.

“We’ve got four important games left and they’re all winnable,” second row Salmon said.

“We need to get a victory against Nottingham because that would put some distance between ourselves and Ealing and Moseley.

“I know our future depends to some extent on what other teams are doing but our morale is good after we beat Bedford and we are confident.

“In training going into the Nottingham match we’re concentrating on making sure we don’t get turned over so we keep our ball and once we have it ensure we get over the gain-line by using the ball quickly.

“It helps that our coach Justin Burnell played in the forwards and he’s said that those who’ve worked the hardest in training between now and Nottingham will get picked.

“The boys were sad when Mark Jones left and Justin has a different approaching and way of coaching. He is more focused on us getting over the gain-line.”

Salmon’s improvement and undoubted potential of the 22-year-old have seen him stand out as one of the positives of a disappointing season so far.

He said: “In my first season as a professional, my game has improved 100 per cent.

“I’m fitter and my skills are getting better because you’re training full time.

“I’ve still a lot to learn and experience players like Tom Holmes and Barney Maddison want to help me and I’ve learned a lot from them.

“My best performance as a professional was against Bedford and it was great to get a try because I wasn’t expecting to score.

“I felt good throughout the game, made few errors, but then I had a bad match at London Welsh where the team didn’t get things right.”
