Rotherham teenager dies after being hit by a car outside Sheffield Arena

A Rotherham teenager understood to be attending The Prodigy gig at Sheffield Arena, has died after being hit by a car.

The teen, named locally as Louis Booth, aged 19, suffered life-threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital where he passed away yesterday evening.

Louis, an apprentice engineer based in Sheffield, was crossing Broughton Lane and was hit by a silver Audi A3 on Saturday evening around 9.25pm.

The driver, a 30-year-old man from Sheffield, was not believed to be injured.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision that happened close to the Noose and Gibbet pub at the junction with Surbiton Street.

“Please contact 101 quoting incident number 1125 of November 28 2015.”
