A robbery victim attacked by a group of off-road bikers in Rotherham remains in hospital today.

The 61-year-old was walking with his wife through fields off Quarry Field Lane, Wickerlsey, when two off-road bikers asked for the man's phone.

He was repeatedly kicked during the robbery, suffering serious internal injuries including a punctured lung and broken ribs.

The culprits were among a group of around eight off-road bikers.

Acting Detective Sergeant Richard Gladwin said: “A number of these bikers saw what happened and they may well hold crucial information in relation to this investigation.

“I’d like to ask them to come forward to help us with our inquiries.

"If you were one of those riding an off-road bike that afternoon, please come forward and tell us what happened. You will be dealt with in confidence.

“I’d also ask that anyone who was in the area and who saw anything suspicious that afternoon to please contact police.”

The robbery happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, October 25.
