A silver surfer from Rotherham has become a computer whizz by gaining specialist digital qualifications.
Patricia Naylor, aged 71, had never used a computer before she began training through a Sanctuary Housing initiative.
The Danes View resident has attained Adult Numeracy and Literacy qualifications online, a NOCN Level 3 Award in progression and has been awarded credits in different computer-based tasks such as internet access, online shopping and digital photography.
Patricia said: “Before I took part in the initiative I hadn’t really used a computer before. I’m really proud I’ve been able to achieve qualifications.”
Danes View scheme manager, Joyce McCambridge, said: “It’s great to see the residents enjoying the computers and all the benefits digital technology can bring.
“Since the residents started their computer training they have come on leaps and bounds, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where they go next.”
Sanctuary’s digital inclusion project is designed to teach residents how to use computers and see their benefits, such as communicating with family and online banking. It is funded by Sanctuary and a Big Lottery Fund grant.
