Rotherham man stabbed in leg by burglar

A man was stabbed in his leg by a burglar he chased out of his house.

His wife initially heard a noise in their house in Selborne Street, Eastwood, and challenged two men she found in the property.

She was pushed to the floor by the men, who fled with a wallet.

Her husband heard the disturbance and chased the men into Lindley Street, where he was stabbed in his leg.

Both men were between 17 and 23 years old, around 5ft 3 or 4ins tall, slim, had dark hair and were wearing dark clothing.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At around 8pm on Monday, January 25 a woman returned to her property in Selbourne Street in Eastwood to find two men in her kitchen.

“The woman reportedly challenged the men who pushed her to the floor before leaving the property. A wallet is believed to have been stolen in the incident.

“The woman’s husband heard the disturbance and chased the two men into Lindley Street where he was stabbed in the leg with a sharp object by one of the men.

“Were you in the Selbourne Street area around the time of the incident? Did you see or hear anything suspicious?”
