Rotherham man arrested for Wakefield murder

A man from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing another man to death in Wakefield.

A 33-year-old man from the Rotherham area was arrested for the killing of 27-year-old Nicholas Williams of Bottom Boat Road, Stanley.

Mr Williams body was found at his home address at about 9.34am on Thursday December 17 by local residents.

A post mortem has determined he died as a result of multiple stab wounds after being assaulted on Wednesday evening.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Belton, said: “Police are continuing to investigate this incident and a 33-year-old man is now in custody for questioning in relation to the murder of Mr Williams.

“We continue to appeal for information and witnesses and anyone who can assist the investigation at all is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 referencing Operation Packburg.

“Information can also be given in complete anonymity to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
