Families turned out in their droves in Rotherham to enjoy fun and music and watch the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
The cast of the town’s pantomime, Aladdin, turned out to help turn on the lights on the 35ft tree in All Saints Square.
A giant screen also let youngsters and would-be stars belt out a host of karaoke Christmas classics.
Cabinet Member for Business Growth and Regeneration, Councillor Dominic Beck, said: “The switch-on evening is phenomenally popular and certainly the one night of the year that everyone in Rotherham looks forward to.
“The Council’s dedicated Events team have spent the last few months making sure that the night remains a place where families can come, have fun, feel safe and enjoy a great night.”
