Rotherham Hospice event

We at Rotherham Hospice are busy planning for a very special event '“ on September 9, it will be 20 years since we opened our doors at Broom Road.

Our Hospice was purpose-built for you, the people of Rotherham, using money so kindly given over all those years of fundraising.

We believe it is the heart of this town. And we know it has a place in the hearts of so many – from the inspirational teams of medical professionals to the volunteers who give time, energy and expertise expecting nothing more than to know they have helped someone going through the most frightening time in their lives.

So as we prepare our 20th anniversary, we want people to be involved in our special day. There are many ways you can do this.

We hope that on September 9 local businesses will join our new campaign, Clock In For The Hospice. Could this potentially be the biggest fundraiser we have ever staged?

When you sign up to Clock In, our payroll-giving campaign, workers can donate a portion of their net September 9 earnings – and you can also give us the amount that would have been paid in tax and National Insurance.

Ahead of September 9 we are also calling out to volunteers, fundraisers, trustees and staff past and present to share memories of how they helped turn the dream of a town hospice into a reality – a centre of excellence in end of life care.

We are urging them to dig out their old photographs and stories so we can add them to a memory bank which will ensure the history of the hospice is celebrated and preserved.

We also want to invite these incredible people to be part of the anniversary day itself. A celebration afternoon tea is being held for them at the hospice on September 9 and a ‘roll of honour’ of the long-serving is also being planned.

And we would very much like to hear from relatives of patients who received care from us.

Their thoughts and memories are very precious to us – and would help us greatly as we go into the hospice’s next decade and beyond.

We have much to do. Rotherham Hospice needs to raise more than £2.4 million this year through voluntary support to maintain all the services we are so proud of.

And we want to continue to expand the vital work of our hospice at home team and our community team, so more patients can be supported in their place of choice.

There is also a growing need for specialist therapy services and counselling and bereavement services. The hospice needs to be ready to support more people with more help in future. Please help us to make that future as positive and effective as the last 20 years have been.

Businesses can sign up to Clock In To The Hospice by contacting [email protected] or calling Sharon on 07794 044819.
