Rotherham girl ‘seriously injured’ by Rottweiler

A toddler was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries after being bitten by a Rottweiler.

The two-year-old girl was taken to Rotherham General Hospital following the incident, which took place just before 10am this morning in Rawmarsh. She has now been transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

An older woman, who is a relative of the girl, was with her at the time she was bitten.

The dog involved is believed to be a family pet andwas on a lead at the time.

South Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation into the incident and officers have taken the Rottweiler to a secure kennel facility while they establish what happened.

The girl’s condition has this evening been described as stable and not life-threatening.
