Rotherham driver airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after collision

A Rotherham man has suffered serious injuries in a road collision.

Yesterday’s two-car crash, involving a grey Ford Fiesta and blue Vauxhall Meriva, occurred on Laughton Common Road between Laughton Common and Thurcroft.

The 26-year-old Fiesta driver had to be cut out of the vehicle before he was airlifted to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The 76-year-old woman driving the Meriva sustained minor injuries.

Fire engines from Maltby, Aston Park and Rotherham stations also attended the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened at about 12.10pm, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 437 of July 11, 2014.
