A volunteer treasurer has admitted stealing cash from the South Yorkshire branch of the MS Society.

Rehman Arif, aged 48, of Bramley, Rotherham, pleaded guilty to fraud at Sheffield Crown Court.

He stole from the charity’s coffers while he was acting as treasurer.

The fraud took pace between 2009 and 2011.

Judge Paul Watson QC adjourned the case, adding: “It would seem on the face of it custody is virtually inevitable.”
