Rotherham abuse trial: Defendant cleared of conspiracy to rape charge

A defendant in the Rotherham sex abuse trial has been found not guilty on one of her charges.

Judge Sarah Wright directed the jury in their not guilty verdict in relation to Shelley Davies.

She had been accused of conspiracy to rape in relation to Girl B.

Judge Wright said: “I’m satisfied there is insufficient evidence on this particular count.

“She did not have knowledge in my view that the girl would be raped.”
