Robbers stole bag of money

A MAN in his sixties suffered grazing to his knees after grappling with two thugs who robbed him of money he was carrying in a bag.

The man was walking along Birley Moor Road, Frecheville, when two yobs at a nearby bus stop approached him and grabbed the carrier bag he was holding.

A struggle took place before the robbers ran off with the bag, which contained a quantity of money. The robbers were then joined by a third man, and all three ran off onto Heathfield Road, where it is believed they got into a small red car and drove off in the direction of Birley Golf Club.

All three men were white. The two robbers were in their early 20s, around 6ft, one stocky and one slim. One was wearing a padded blue jacket and a ski-type hat covering his ears. The other was wearing dark clothing.

The third man was white, slim and wearing a black jacket with yellow sleeves, jeans and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the red vehicle should call police on 101 quoting incident 361 of Tuesday, December 27.
