Robber pushed man into canal in Doncaster

A man was pushed into a canal in Doncaster during a robbery.

South Yorkshire Police said the 31-year-old victim was walking along the canal bank between the River Don and Mexborough New Cut, Doncaster Road, Mexborough, when he was targeted.

An E-fit of the culprit has been produced.

POLICE: Crook hunted over attempted shop raid in SheffieldA police spokesman said: "A 31-year-old man was walking on the canal bank on land between the River Don and Mexborough New Cut, Doncaster Road, when he was approached by another man.

"The man then pushed him into the canal, before stealing his wallet using a fishing magnet. He then left the area heading towards Denaby.

"The victim managed to get out of the canal on his own and was not injured.

"Officers investigating have since worked with him to produce an E-fit."
