MOTORISTS are being warned of a road closure and diversion after Christmas as work continues to improve one of South Yorkshire’s worst accident blackspots.
The work, which is part of the £14.7 million improvement scheme to the A57, will mean that from Monday, January 7, the B6463 Todwick Road will be closed at its junction with the A57 at Todwick Crossroads.
The road will remain closed until the end of April. During the closure period, traffic will be diverted via the B6060 through Dinnington and North Anston.
The road closure is part of an improvement scheme by Rotherham Council that will see the A57 turned into a dual carriageway from the Todwick crossroads to Junction 31 of the M1 motorway.
A spokesman said construction works on the scheme, which are being carried out by Ringway Infrastructure Services, began in September and are progressing well and to schedule.
They are due to be completed in early 2014.
