Aston Lodge Primary School was chosen as one of 50 nationwide to receive a lollipoper from more than 6000 who applied as part of a road safety campaign organised by Churchill Insurance.

Lucy Brooksbank, head of marketing at Churchill Insurance, said: “Lollipoppers are still the stalwarts of our communities - national treasures who bring fun and joy to the school run as well as playing a vital role in protecting our children.

“We are thrilled to be providing the parents and children of Sheffield with a lollipopper and ask any members of the local community interested in filling the role to put themselves forward with their local council.”

The campaign was launched after a report by the Road Safety Analysis Research group revealed 53 per cent of child pedestrian casualties occur during the usual hours of the school run.
