A four week project to replace aging gas pipes on a Barnsley road is to begin on Monday.

The A635 Huddersfield Road will be dug up for 350 metres of metal pipes to be replaced with plastic.

National Grid Authorising Engineer Paul Martin said: “We’re sorry for any disruption caused by this project. However, this is essential work that will help us to continue to provide a dependable gas supply to local homes and businesses well into the future. Throughout the project, we will be making every effort to minimise inconvenience.”
