HIGH Street in Wombwell will be closed from Cemetery Road to George Street between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, November 26, to allow the village’s Christmas lights switch-on to take place.
A diversion will be in place along Station Road, Mitchells Way and Barnsley Road. And two access roads off Doncaster Road, Barnsley, will be temporarily closed for three weeks from next Monday to allow CE-Electric to install cables.
Meanwhile a crackdown on unlawful traders in Barnsley town centre has been launched by police.
Officers are looking for people selling on the streets without having a pedlar’s certificate. On Saturday, goods worth £4,200 were seized by officers from a street trader unable to produce the document.
Police said the trader gave up the goods rather than face prosecution.
