Fatal crash as car goes off bridge at Meadowhall and into the river

Meadowhall Way is currently closed to all traffic and pedestrians while a police investigation is ongoing.

It comes after witnesses reported a car going off the bridge and into the River Don below around 7pm last night (January 30).

Police have confirmed that the crash was fatal.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Meadowhall Way towards the junction with Meadowhall Road is closed due to a police incident.

“You will not be able to drive or walk that route. It is expected to be closed until 2pm."
