Ring to rescue for nine-man Steels

STOCKSBRIDGE Park Steels put their FA Cup defeat at Gainsborough Trinity behind them as they bounced back with 1-1 draw at Alsager Town despite finishing with nine-men.

After a scrappy first 45 minutes the game sparkled into to life just after the break when firstly Jamie Vardy was shown a straight red in the 55th minute for a late challenge. Three minutes later Steels were not only a man down but a goal down as Alsager broke the deadlock. Then with 15 minutes remaining central defender Steve Kennedy became the second Stocks-bridge player to be sent off after picking up a second yellow card but Steels showed the battling qualities when Andy Ring levelled from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
